I have constantly heard over the election campaign that the election was Romney's to lose. With every single aspect of our countries social and economic strength diminished, you'd expect a powerful, successful businessman to just walk into the victory. Now Romney does have the deck stacked against him in when it comes to the mainstream media, a significant challenge to overcome. However, the public is begging for specifics and answers and the base of the party is scratching their heads wondering when those answers will come. I hope this is some mad scientist type of strategy that maybe the thought is peaking too soon before the election would hurt Romney. I pray that they are just waiting for the debates. One thing about that play that concerns me is that 30 states have early voting. So you could have voters making their choices before even seeing or hearing the specifics of Romney's platform.
I have seen some presidential moments from Mr. Romney. I thought he was right on the mark with his speech on the debacle in Libya. I think that what the country is being suckered into is an emotional attachment to a candidate again. Mr. Romney is not going to be that candidate. This is a sober, calculating, thoughtful business genius who is more drill instructor than drama class teacher. This whole situation reminds me of the Biblical story of when Israel was asking for a king. The entire time God was telling them he didn't want them to have a king they have Him. After the nations pestering God relented and gave them exactly what they asked Him for a king. Now they weren't very specific and to teach them a lesson he gave the nation a leader who later on turn psychotic. So a good portion of this nation is pleading for a king and not a president. Those on the left want that charismatic individual to fall in love with like the first Obama run. You got what you asked for, but it's not what we need.
How do I convince those of my friends that are asking for a king and not a president? How do I remind them that we are Americans and that no one rules us anymore? How we will lose will depend on the individual's ability to want to live lean for a short amount of time while a conservative administration repairs the socialist holes drilled into our society. Do we have the fortitude as a people to endure this discomfort? We have struggled for four years most of us are worn down and exhausted of treading water. I ask you all to make the choice to return to a type of government where the individual and his efforts are the focus not the government puppeteering the masses. Be tough, be brave, make the hard choice.
