What if the founding fathers would have just written the king or just petitioned parliament for our countries freedoms? Would America even exist? Or would our freedom have come anyway through years of whining? In every country there are those that just protest for the want of protesting. Go down to most every Occupy wherever and you'll find them. Most of them don't even know what Occupy is all about. Though the premise and principles of the Occupy movement are fundamentally wrong, the spirit was willing but the flesh was weak. Protest and revolution have been the life's blood of nearly every major Democratic movement. If you can name one that have require no bloodshed, please comment on it. Why is it that only the fist gets the attention? What is it in human nature that compels us to physical conflict? Is it always necessary. I understand that at least in the US we have not reached the boiling point where the populace should arise. One country for certain is in need of a popular uprising. Our "friend" to the south Mexico.
Mexico has been one of the bloodiest and corrupt nations on the planet. We give them a pass because occasionally they have and election. Over 50,000 dead in the last five years just from the drug wars. Official after official arrested and imprisoned for being in the pocket of the cartels. Shakedown and bribes are common place and part of the culture. Everyone get the "palita". I remember a friend telling me the story of driving through Mexico on a mission trip. The were stopped at a check point by men in military uniforms. The men searched and harassed everyone on the bus. The only way they were allowed to escape was through pooling money together and giving the soldiers a bribe. Being a Spanish speaker I have given interviews on the local Spanish stations and watch their news. I have yet to here about an uprising or and Occupy Mexico City to rid that nation of the disease of bureaucracy and corruption that has plagued that nation. Mexico is just the main carrier. Look at most Latin American countries and you'll find the same. What's wrong with us? Why can't we run our nations in a way that the world looks at us with respect and admiration? Our we paying for our past sins.
