Prince of darkness

I suspect that soon we will see the true dark lords of the elections come out. The real hitmen of each political party has their violin cases open putting their .50 cal Barretts together. They have found good cover, concealment, and the high ground. That's the point we are at in this political cycle. Those are the tactics that politics has devolved to. Where its seek and destroy. Kill or be killed. There is no way in today's environment that anyone can run a campaign that focuses on what your opponents have or haven't done. When you use private investigators to help you in your political race, it's time to change the system.

What is so fascinating about tearing down everything about your political foe? Lawrence O'Donnell making fun of Romney's sick wife without knowing jack squat about animal therapy for people with MS. Rachel Maddow called people mentally ill who watch Fox News. I found a ray of hope last night in Michael Myers a political and legal genius who is a left wing liberal. Mr. Myers supported the legal decision that the attorney general made to protect documents. However he was ashamed that the attorney general would have such disregard for the legal power of our Congress. A faint signal that even on the left the rule of law might still live.

In this atmosphere of slash and burn, I've become pessimistic on real reform to our way of vetting candidates before elections. Money, negativity, power, are the real impetuous of why most candidates get involved in government. The purest who sees politics as a way to better are nation are few and far between. Very few of the middle class are able to participate because of the wealth needed to run. Our country needs to take back the elections by possibly making it a federal program in the exclusion of private money. Everyone should have the ability to serve. What we have done is create a politcal aristocracy that has pushed out the sane citizen.
